Cherry Picker Ride

The Cherry Picker Ride begins by leaving Depot Square, traveling to the traffic light at 9th Street, turn left and go through the underpass.  As you exit the underpass turn left onto County Road.  Follow County Road until you reach the next traffic light at the intersection with Highway 89.  Turn left here and travel approximately four miles to County Road #108.  Turn right here and travel up County Road #108 past the cattle guard.  The work begins here as the road begins a climb, descends and climbs again.  A couple of miles past the cattle guard the road forks.

The left fork will continue climbing for several miles and culminate at the Medicine Butte radio towers.  This climb can be quite strenuous but the view from here is breathtaking.  You over look a large portion of the west side of Uinta County some of the City of Evanston as well as parts of Utah.  You may retrace your tracks to the highway or take the other fork in the road–

If you do not want to do all this climbing you may take the left hand fork in the road.  This will lead you on a roller coaster ride for several miles.  You will eventually descend a long hill and reach a four way intersection at the Painter Reservoir and the Chevron Gas Plant.  Turn right and you may follow this road back to Highway 89 and return to Evanston.

Riding these routes a biker can see all manners of wildlife.  From badgers to moose, as well as deer, antelope, squirrels and prairie dogs.  Eagles, hawks, blue birds and meadow larks can be seen as well.  The main attraction however would be the angry cows with new babies.  Give them the right of way and plenty of room.
