The Lizzy Ridge Sheep Trail, once known as the High Uintas Muddy Medicine Fat Tire Stage Race "The Hurl Ride", began a mountain bike racing tradition that has evolved to the Wolverine Ridge XC Race. Prepare yourself for a challenging ride which extends from the wind swept plains of southwest Wyoming to the foothills of the majestic Uinta Mountains. Beginning at Historic Depot Square, drive south on Front Street passing under I-80. At the intersection of I-80 and Front Street, the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway begins and will lead you approximately 10 miles south to County Road 173 and Sulphur Creek Reservoir. The trail head begins at Sulphur Creek Reservoir where parking, picnic shelters and restrooms are provided. This course is not signed and has many intersecting pathways. If you do not have a good sense of direction, this ride is not recommended. As a navigational aid for this ride, reference points "A-L" have been located on the map. A description of each point and distance, measured from the beginning of the ride to each point, is provided below:
From the intersection at point "L", you have three options:
Option 1: Repeat the course in reverse returning to Sulphur Creek Reservoir. This option is about 53 miles in length.
Option 2: Arrange for a driver to meet you at the intersection of the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway and North Slope Road. This area is within the U.S. Forest Service boundary and requires a use fee. Vault style restrooms are provided for you convenience.
Option 3: For those desiring a smoother surface on the return ride, turn west at point "L" and proceed to the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway. Ride approximately 20 miles north on the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway returning to Sulphur Creek Reservoir. This option is about 65 miles in length.
